Malaysia
Internet Access
Research conducted by the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI) and Internet Monitor reveals evidence of Internet blocking in Malaysia. The government bans both pornography and gambling sites substantially, and it selectively filters torrent sites. The government also censors news outlets, medium.com, and other blogs that report on the Malaysian Prime Minister’s alleged involvement in a billion dollar misappropriation scandal in 2015. The government blocks at least one site that is critical of Islam.
